8 - 9 April: The journey to "Pain" begins

The first sign that this was going to be a great trip was when the NWA agent allowed us to change our plane tickets so we could have only 2 legs on our journey instead of 3. We started our journey to Fain (or Pain) from Minneapolis to Amsterdam, then flew from Amsterdam to Madrid. The highlight of our airport time in Minneapolis was the observation deck - Cam was enamored watching the planes take off. On the plane it took awhile for everyone to make it to sleep because there were movies to watch - Harper watched Cars and Cam watched Chicken Little with no headset, so he created his own commentary (there's a chicken, there's a chicken, there's a big chicken, etc. etc). Everything was on time and we arrived in Spain on schedule.

We got to our apartment (which we are calling our home in Spain) with some rain - but when we left an hour later the rain had stopped, so the kids had a really sunny hour at Retiro Park (which is right next door). Harper loves the fact that the swings are different here (and that the teeter totters are different). We also got some chocolate con churros (at San Gines), went grocery shopping, and had our first tapas meal (canapes). The pattern (which has repeated itself over and over again) is the Harper loves the churros, Cam loves the chocolate, and neither of them will eat anything at a tapas bar.

Harper likes to say "I thought we would go to Spain because it would be fun." it should be!
